EVENIN' TIME

Jamaican folk music serves many different purposes for the people of that island. Its subject matter varies from the very serious (sickness and death) to the light and, sometimes, even silly. "Evenin' Time" is a happy song that shows the lively spirit of workers as they journey home even after working several days at the market. Because the journey home from the city takes such a long time, these laborers usually found it necessary to cook and eat their food (bickle) before they get home.
