Patrick Vu

Patrick Vu is currently pursuing a double major in Vocal Music Education and Music Composition at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. While Patrick enjoys composing music for instrumental chamber ensembles, he especially loves writing choral music and art songs, and has written commissions for students, professors, and professionals from across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. In 2018, he was a prize winner in the International Baccalaureate Film Score Competition as part of their 50th Anniversary Celebration. In the same year, his first choral piece was premiered by Allen High School and is now published by Alliance Music Publications.

Vu was the student-category winner of the TCU School of Music Call for Scores Competition with his Trumpet Fanfare, which will be premiered during the grand opening of the new TCU Music Center in the fall of 2020. Patrick was also a guest composer in the 2020 Savannah VOICE Festival and premiered his new art song entitled “Letter to a Young Artist” as part of their Stay-at-Home season.

Patrick studies voice with Dr. San-Ky Kim, composition with Dr. Martin Blessinger, and has also worked with composers Dr. André Thomas, Libby Larsen, Jake Heggie, and Dr. Till MacIvor Meyn. He is a TCU Chancellor's Scholar, a student ambassador for both the School of Music and the John V. Roach Honors College, and serves as section manager of the Concert Chorale, University Singers, and Frog Corps.
