Michael Larkin

Dr.Michael Larkin is founder and music director of the New Ark Chorale. In addition, Dr. Larkin is chairperson of the Vocal/Choral Department and an artist faculty voice teacher with distinction at the Wilmington Music School in Wilmington, DE where he coordinates the Vocal/Choral Department, teaches studio voice, choral conducting, and conducts the Select Choral Ensemble and the Delaware Youth Symphony. He also has taught on the music faculties at Immaculata College in Frazer, PA and College Misericordia in Dallas, PA. Dr. Larkin also is Director of Music Ministry at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Wilmington, DE, and for 10 years served as Eastern Division Chairperson for Music and Worship for the American Choral Directors Association. He currently serves as DE state chairperson for community choirs.

In demand as a guest conductor, choral/vocal clinician and music festival adjudicator, his degrees include a bachelor of music degree in choral music education from the University of Delaware, a master of music degree in vocal performance from the Catholic University of America, and a doctor of musical arts degree in music education, with a concentration in choral conducting from Temple University. In March 2001 Dr. Larkin guest conducted the first high school honors choir sponsored by the Eastern Division of The Association of Christian Schools International. In June 2001, Dr. Larkin took his Select Choral Ensemble at the Wilmington Music School on a very successful concert tour of southern England and in June, 2004 they toured Austria. A concert tour of northern Italy is planned for June, 2007. With over 200 compositions in print with most of the nation's major publishing houses Dr. Larkin has gained an international reputation as a composer and arranger of both choral and keyboard music.
