Desmond Earley

Desmond Earley is a Lecturer in Performance at University College Dublin, Director of UCD Choral Scholars and an Artistic Director of UCD Ad Astra Academy. He holds a DMus Performance degree in early music from the Royal Irish Academy of Music, having studied previously at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst, Wien, at University College Dublin and the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama. He is a member of the [American] National Collegiate Choral Oranganisation and the Society of Musicology in Ireland. Desmond is a published arranger/composer of choral works with Hal Leonard (USA), Alliance Music Publications (USA) and Novello (UK) and regularly works as a choral conductor/clinician in the areas of early music and Irish choral music.

Desmond has played harpsichord with ensembles such as the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, Ensemble eX, The Earley Musik Ensemble and the European Union Chamber Orchestra. He has worked with musicians such as Konrad Junghaenel, Chirstopher Hogwood, Sir James Galway, and with the late Dr. Bernadette Greevy as Chorus–Master os Anna Livia International Opera Festival. Solo appearances in Ireland include a solo recital entitles Musique de Clavesin (January 2011) in Dublin, a concerto performance with The Earley Musicke Ensemble of Concerto in D Major for harpsichord BMV 1054 by Johann Sebastian Bach, and a recital series in Ireland's Georgian country houses.
